About This Time Two Years Ago

About this time two years ago, Michael announced that he wanted our house to be "that house" on Halloween, the one that gives out full-sized candy bars. He had a point- we had a unique opportunity as newcomers to Lakeville to establish ourselves as cool. And so we headed off to Sam's Club and purchased 48 full-sized Snicker bars.

We gave away one.

Our cul-de-sac is in a hill which is perched above a busy road. The kiddies in the development down the hill have plenty of houses to go to for themselves without needing to play Frogger in the dark, crossing that busy road. That's okay; we like Snickers. And besides, the news of something even more significant than chocolate, something more exicting than sugar, kept us giddy and grinning from ear to ear that night.

About this time one year ago, we purchased another 48 full-sized bars Snickers bars. This time we left them outside for the taking while we took our little lobster out trick-or-treating.

He looks thrilled, doesn't he?

This year our little astronaut started to get the hang of Halloween. He dug into the plastic bowls of candy, choosing M&Ms and Reeces over bottlecaps and Smarties like the good intelligent boy he is, and graciously shared his loot with his Mommy and Daddy.
We started with a stash of 60 candy bars and got it down to roughly 30*, so apparently we're getting the hang of Halloween too.

*Note: number may include candy bars consumed by the puchaser.
