The Most Expensive Cat Accessories

When our cat was 5 months old or so, she was due for her nuetering surgery. I bought her a $15 cat bed with syrofoam- eggshell inlay, and added a soft baby blanket for her post-op recovery. Sore from her incisions, she used the bed. For two days.

Since then, the cat bed has been abandoned for better lounging locations: our bed, a dining room chair, a windowsill, a drawer of pajama pants, a bin of sweaters, the top of the fridge, and occasionally, the bathtub. What can I say? She's a cat. She doesn't go for things that are made for cats, like, say catnip mice or bells contained in little plastic cage balls. Or cat beds.

On the advice of friends, we invested in a variety of seating for our son, knowing that what may comfort him or lull him to sleep one week may not work for the next. So registry scanner in hand, we pressed the trigger for a bouncy seat, a Bumbo seat, a swing, and a vibrating infant chair.

And Liesel never ceases to let us know, every day, how much she appreciates her new napping accommodations.
